Franzeska was a children's author for over twenty-five years. Several of her books were chosen by The Guardian as their 'Book of the Week', and in 2011 There's a Hamster in my Pocket was on Richard and Judy's 'Summer Reads' list. It was also shortlisted for a Scottish Children's Book Award in the 8-11 age category.
She often illustrated her own, and other people's work, and even though none of her published books are self-illustrated, it was the oil on canvas 'illustrations' she did for her adult novel, The Faraway, that brought her back to painting.
